Description

Cetate - Piața Unirii The Baroque Palace, also known as Presidential Palace, Prefectura Veche (Old Prefecture) or House of the County. The palace contains two former buildings, the Mining Office (built in 1733) and the Heereskasse (built in 1735), and was built between 1752 and 1754 as a county house (government building) modeled on the Kinsky Palace in Vienna and designed in Baroque style by the Austrian architect Franz Anton Hillebrandt.

The building was recently completely renovated and since 1984, it has housed the Museum of Art (Muzeul de Arta) of the city.
