The other problem with hitchhiking is that many locals do not know English, so it will be difficult for you to communicate with them unless you have a translator with you. Highways are the best place to hitchhike, or a toll booth would be another good option because the employees working there are amicable and helpful, and usually, the cars stop for your help. It would be best if you hitchhiked at a decent place so that people don't hesitate to help you. You might get lucky if a regular Chinese patrolling police see you asking for help. They will help you after getting your verification at highways. Also, this city's crime rate is shallow, but hitchhikers report some cases of robbery.

There is an automatic ticket vending machine for CRT, which can be operated in English as well, so many tourists find it convenient to move around the city by trains or monorails. Even the station stops are announced in English, so you won't get confused and get to the right station. Chongqing has a rail system that covers around 45 miles. The number of stations CRT has is 189, with eight monorail lines connecting across these stations. The metro network is the fastest means of transport in this city.
