The building is enormous, with a total length of more than 300 meters, and it has a central assembly building and two wings housing government departments, and a library. The building is gorgeous and has an outstanding view of Bern's city from the balcony, and from the square behind the parliament, there is a nice view of the river.   • Oeschinen Lake is a lake that is at an elevation of 1,578 meters, has a surface area of 1.1147 square kilometers, and a maximum of 56 meters. The lake is fed through a series of mountain creeks and drains underground. Part of the water is captured for electricity production and as a water supply for Kandersteg. The lake is generally frozen for five months, from December to May, and from time to time, ice skating is possible. There are various types of fish in the lake, including Arctic char, lake trout, rainbow trout, and from January to March, ice fishing is popular. The mountains have a stunning view of the lake with calm turquoise water reflecting the mountains with their snowy peaks. It is important to note that the hill is quite steep at some spots.
  • The PostFinance-Arena is an arena in Bern that is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of SC Bern. The building was built in 1967 and currently accommodates 17,031 people, making it the hall with the world's largest standing room grandstand, with a capacity of 10,422 bench seats. The PostFinance Arena was the main arena for the 2009 IIHF World Championships. When watching a hockey game there, be sure you cover yourself in some really warm clothes as it is freezing inside. The atmosphere in the arena during games is impressive. Taking photos from the game is forbidden.
  • The Bantiger is a mountain north of the Emmental Alps, overlooking the region of Bern. The summit has the Bantiger TV Tower, a 196-meter tall tower used for FM and TV transmission. In the ancient days, this was the site of an ancient Celtic temple. In the Middle Ages, it became a castle. Despite the radio and TV transmissions, a mountain is a quiet place with a sweeping view over the whole of Bern and the surrounding area. The mountain does not get very crowded during the week, but it can get crowded on weekends. There is a parking lot at the bottom where you can park your car for free. The walk up from the parking is 30-40 minutes, depending on your pace. There is an elevator at the driveway for those who are not interested in walking, which will take you straight to the top.   • Gurten Park is a beautiful park that is the perfect place for family and kids. The park is made up of an incredibly massive lawn patch on a hill in the middle of the beautiful medieval city. They have a playground, a kids' train, kids motorized car, and tobacco, which is very fun even for adults. The park has a relaxing and serene atmosphere. You can play games like frisbee here or sit around on blankets. There are several barbeque areas where you can roast meat, or you can carry picnic baskets. The park has many places for wandering, and there is a 360-degree view of Bern and its surroundings. The staff is also amiable.
  • Rosengarten is a lovely rose garden with a great view, which of course means it is a steep climb up. There is an excellent view with a restaurant, a playground for the kids, and lots of green grass to lay down on. The garden has a beautiful variety of Roses, some of which are over a hundred years old. The architecture is very welcoming and gives a sense of peacefulness. National Parks

  • The Tierpark Dählhölzli, or Dählhölzli Zoo, is a public zoo in Bern that is owned and financed by the city. the zoo is situated on the bank of the river Aare near the city center. The zoo is home to approximately 3,000 animals on 15 hectares of land. The main focus is on domestic wild animals, but there is also a large part with exotic animals and a seal facility. Some of the animals found include snakes, iguanas, fish, monkeys, alligators, seals, bison, deer, bears, wolves, and owls. The zoo is not too fancy, but the entry fee is very appropriate, and children will enjoy the great playground. The animals live in comfort and have plenty of space to move around as there are huge enclosures that are very close to wildlife. There is also a "free" part with goats, boars, flamingos, and lamas, among others. There are several restaurants and a souvenir shop.
  • The Bärengraben, or Bear Pit, is a bear pit, or enclosure housing bears, situated at the eastern edge of the city. the park is a large and more natural enclosure alongside the River Aar. The Bärengraben is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. It is of particular significance in Bern because the bear symbolizes both the city and surrounding canton and is featured in their coat of arms. The bears can only be seen in summer as they hibernate during winter. The bears are typically found on the levels which are steep and are visible from upstairs. This is a unique experience, and entry is free.

  • The Anna-Seiler-Brunnen is a fountain on Marktgasse in the city that is a Swiss Cultural Property of National Significance and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fountain was constructed to commemorate Anna Seiler, the woman who opened a hospital in Bern in 1354. The statue is stunning and very well preserved.
  • The Holländerturm is a former defensive tower in the city that is part of the UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site. The tower was originally part of Bern's city wall but was absorbed by the house at Waisenhausplatz as it was no longer needed to defend the city. This tower is very close to the Main Train Station. The tower is well maintained and is worth seeing. There are also many opportunities to take some nice pictures.

  • The Natural History Museum of Bern is a museum in the city that cooperates closely with the University of Bern as it also focuses on teaching and research. They have an exciting exposition about glasses. The museum can get a bit crowded, but there is enough space for people to move around freely. There are several fascinating exhibitions, which include the Dinosaur one, which has moving dinosaurs. They also have a crystal and gem exhibition, which is interesting. Most exhibitions don't have an English description. Entry is affordable for adults and free for kids.
  • The Swiss Alpine Museum is a museum dedicated to the Swiss Alps' nature and culture and is one of the most impressive museums in the world. The architecture is designed in a way that reminds guests of the alpines. One of their most famous dishes is the Berner platter and the rosti. Their food is good, and the prices were no different than any other Swiss restaurant around the area. The service is fast, although the restaurant is huge. The restaurant has no takeaway or delivery options available.
  • Restaurant Süder is a traditional Swiss dining room that serves seasonal dishes in a cozy interior or a winter garden. The restaurant is small on the inside, with more seating available outside when the weather is good. Due to the size, reservations are a must. Their food is delicious beyond expectations; it is seasoned to perfection and well presented. The prices are normal by Swiss standards. The service was quick and accommodating. They have a website and menu, both of which are available in English.

  • Kebabo is a vegan fast food restaurant with a salad bar, take-out, and a mainly Middle Eastern cuisine. The restaurant offers plant-based kebabs filled with spicy seitan, sauces, salads, and vegetables. The prices are reasonable.

The restaurant is take-out and is part of a small chain of vegan eateries by the Schillinger's. The restaurant specializes in vegan burgers and also offers salads, sides, sodas, and sweets. They are also eco-friendly as they use CO2-neutral and bio-degradable ware. There is swing music played in the background.
  • 3 Dosha Ayurveda is a vegetarian self-service restaurant that offers mainly Indian cuisine. The food is laid out in a buffet style, and people select what they want to eat. The buffet spread has salads, cakes, and warm dishes. Vegans should ask for vegan options as some items are not labeled.
