Responsible Travel

Ciudad de Panamá or Panama City is a western coast Panamanian city that serves as Panama's capital. Its towering skyscrapers, urban buildings, hills, blue lagoons, tropical forests, and Spanish/French styled architecture are known for its lofty towers. Panama is part of the Central American countries and is home to various ethnic groups such as Latinos, Afro-Caribbean, Chinese, Native Americans, and even French. Panama City is the country's political, commercial, economic, and administrative hub and was founded on 15th August 1519 by Pedro Arias Dávila. It covers a land area of 275 square kilometers, with a population of about 1.5 million people. Panama City is undoubtedly a significant part of Central America that can be your perfect tourist destination if you travel responsibly and keeping in mind to respect the local communities.

  • The pollution rates of Panama City are moderate. Such controlled levels are because the government keeps the city clean and limits non-degradable products with municipalities' help. You will find various dustbins, dumpsters, garbage trucks, and many more disposal places available all around the street, where you can throw your used items. While exploring the city, you must follow proper disposal methods to avoid creating pollution on the roads. Also, you should prefer using recycled and reusable items to avoid making more trash.
  • As Panama's capital city, all the facilities available are some of the best in the country. The hotels, hostels, guesthouses, and resorts will provide you with quality and luxurious service. Most of these accommodation options create a lot of pollution just to provide their guests with world-class amenities. It would be best to avoid such accommodation options; instead, you should opt for eco-friendly options such as green hotels, apartments, camping, hostel dorms, and even Couchsurfing. These options are better than the previous ones because they cause little to no pollution. Many of them follow various sustainable measures such as solar power, wind energy, rainwater harvesting, etc. These eco-friendly options will help you keep your carbon footprint minimal and get proper exposure to the local culture and traditions.
  • While exploring the city, it would be best to prefer public transports, electronic vehicles, walking, or bicycles to move around. Rental car services, taxis, and other private cars cause a lot of pollution by emitting greenhouse gases from fossil fuel burning. These vehicles are not at all good for your budget or the local environment. Therefore, you must opt for eco-friendly options such as public buses, trains, electronic cars, walking, etc.

Apart from these necessary measures, you should try your best to support the local communities. The best way to support the local communities is by using their products and services. You can find many locally-owned shops such as cafés, handicraft shops, street food vendors, etc. If you buy even a few things from these places, they will provide food for their families. Many local communities are unable to run their businesses properly, even if they sell some excellent products. By buying even a single item, you can help them in getting a proper meal.

It saves many resources because if we recycle something, the resources required to produce new products get reduced when we recycle. The energy needed to create new works while converting raw material to the finished product also gets reduced. Recycling also facilitates the diminished use of raw material and the space required to dump the waste that could have been recycled. The stats show that recycling is done at a low rate because the people here believe in new products. The government should come with new policies for recycling.
